According to last week's press release from The Lincoln Motor Company, the all-new 2017 Lincoln MKZ is was recently recognized with a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Earning the institute's highest rating is even more impressive in light of stricter requirements that were recently implemented.
In order to qualify for the coveted "plus" designation, a vehicle must pass all five crashworthiness assessments with the highest score of Good, including the notoriously difficult small-overlap front test. Furthermore, vehicles must offer an available front crash prevention system that earns a score of Advanced or Superior. The MKZ's Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection system helped avoid collisions in both 12 mph and 25 mph track tests, earning the Superior rating.
In addition to its forward collision mitigation technology, the MKZ offers a suite of safety and driver assistance features including a lane-keeping assist system, and a Blind Spot Information system with cross traffic alert.
